Vermiculite

Vermiculite is derived from the Latin word Vermiculus which means little worm. Vermiculite is a naturally occurring mineral-hydrated laminar magnesium-aluminum -iron silicate- which resembles Mica in appearance and it expands when subjected to heat .Expanded Vermiculite has unique and variable characteristics ;it is lightweight, low conductor of heat and electricity ,provides energy savings when used as an insulator .It has high melting point and it is highly absorbent, PH neutral, inert, non-reactive to chemicals, and compressible. These profitable features enable Vermiculite to be widely used in industrial and commercial applications. For the first time our company is honored to produce this product on an industrial scale at a competitive price.

Vermiculite Analysis

Vermiculite in gardening

Vermiculite finds use in gardening and agriculture worldwide. It improves soil aeration while retaining moisture. Soil that is too Sandy or that has high clay content can't give your plants everything they need, while clay soil is rich with nutrients but plan roots are prone to rot in its dense particles. vermiculite is an organic soil amendments related to the mineral Mica that can hold both water and nutrients in sand . vermiculite can hold large amount of air, nutrients and water, releasing them as the plan requires and it is a very good extender for fertilizer and pesticides.it is possible to grow most plants in vermiculite alone helping to provide lightweight support to seedlings as they emerge. the plant roots grow around the particles and absorb moisture they need . particles of vermiculite take a long time to dry out which means, moisture is always there for the plant therefore ensures faster and optimum growth.

hydroponics is a method of growing plants in soilless formulations using mineral nutrients solutions. vermiculite is an inert mineral so the roots can be safely supported by it. vermiculite not only physically supports the plant ,but also is able to maintain a hydrated environment and preserve nutrient level for the plant.

Some of the most important features of vermiculite in gardening are:

- Corrosion resistant - Insulated against heat & cold - High humidity absorption - Anti-bacterial - Low specific weight - Chemically neutral

Fireproof coatings

fire retardant paints and other fireproof paints and coatings are used to provide extra time in a fire situation to evacuate the building and additional time for firefighters to arrive before the Fire spreads and minimize the damage .fire resistive coatings provide protection for a structural so that buildings don't collapse in the event of fire or in contact with excessive heat. fire resistant material serve as a barrier between the flame and the combustible material. flame retardant coatings decompose and puff-up forming a thick dense spongy layer that delays the temperature rise and retarded heat penetration.

fireproof coatings are mostly used in public buildings, schools, colleges, nursing homes ,hotels, hospitals ,Warehouse ,factories , retail stores, restaurants, oil and chemical installations ,and military installations.

Refractory and high temperature insulation

High temperature insulation products are used to reduce the energy loss in many industries. Vermiculite due to its unique features such as ,low heat conductivity ,low bulk density, inertness is used as a filler in heat insulating materials. Exfoliated vermiculite is applied to make heat resistance in products. Due to its refractory properties and ease of application it is a very suitable material to enhance:

- night storage heaters. - Ceramic cooker hobs - Boilers - Cements - Building boards - High temperature/ lightweight bricks

Lightweight concrete screed

finer grades of expanded vermiculite is used with Portland cement and other aggregates as an additive to concreting mixtures. it helps to produce roof and floor concrete screeds or concrete which have the benefit of being insulating and lightweight.

Packing materials

Exfoliated vermiculite is an ideal packing medium, which is lightweight ,inert, fire resistant, and easily poured around irregular shaped objects, it is also present a good baffle against shocks caused by transportation and improper handling .It is highly absorbent, which provides extra insurance for potential leakage in another words it safely retains leaks from packed materials such as hazardous chemicals .Exfoliated vermiculite can also be used as packing materials for storing fruit, bulbs, and tubers.

vermiculite in animals feed

in recent years, There have been numerous health concerns about contamination of animal feed stuffs and subsequent progression into the human food chain, either as meats or dairy products.

Vermiculite is free flowing soft sterile , absorbent chemically, inert, and completely safe to be used as an additive in production of animals feed .this means it has found a role as a support and caring medium for a range of nutrients such as fat concentrates vitamin preparations and molasses.

With the use of this feed substrate, the formation of mold and toxins is prevented.

Vermiculite is consumed by the animal as part of the silage and supports the intestinal flora in the digestion process.

Vermiculite does not pose a threat to health and can be used without any restrictions.

Friction surface

Fine grades of exfoliated vermiculite is used in friction lining mainly for the automotive. vermiculite is used because of its thermal resistance, shape ,friction resistance ,surface features and its ease of adding to other raw materials . vermiculite is used as a filler in brake linings. More and above this point, much lower coefficient of friction are reported for vermiculite compared to other materials. while asbestos was once the most commonly used material for friction linings such as those found on brakes. vermiculite is now used as a safer alternative . it is used in things like brake and clutch linings as well as gaskets and rubber seals. Vermiculite has stood on a special place in frictional industries.

Vermiculite in silos

many cereals are stored in silos .these silos should be standard in order to protect cereals against corrosion and heat and moisture penetration therefore, proper storage ventilation for heat and moisture removal is necessary to prevent mold and growth of pets and insects. for these reasons in many silos vermiculite is used because of being high moisture absorbent and neutral.

Vermiculite in military industry

vermiculite is a refractory material and high temperature insulator .because of its laminate shape it is also sound insulator .there is air between the layers so it is like a double-glazed glass .as you know when explosion happens, the level of energy increases in a short period of time in this situation vermiculite can be very effective in absorbing and neutralizing the energy of explosion. because of these characteristic of vermiculite, it is used in the ammunition depot.
